MONSIEUR PERCHERON GRIS, a classic Percheron stallion, is rather Baroque in character. He evolved from my first effort at sculpting MADEMOISELLE, the Percheron mare. When I started to create her, as sometimes happens, the clay or my hands decided to go in a different direction, and she turned into an expression of my early memories of Percheron stallions.
For once I was not sculpting an individual horse but rather memories of several horses I knew in the 1950’s, and I decided to go ahead and create a partner for MADEMOISELLE. While I sculpted the mare fully braided, I made him natural and unshod. Contact me if you are interested in having him cast as a black, MONSIEUR PERCHERON NOIR. Casting generally takes eight to ten weeks.
