PEACOCK OF THE SHOWRING represents my memories of riding elegant 3-gaited American Saddlebred horses as a teenager.
Saddlebreds are amazingly versatile horses, capably doing everything from driving to trail riding, but they are most known for their brillance in the showring.
5-gaited Saddlebreds are shown with full mane and tail at five gaits; walk, trot, canter, slow-gait, and rack. But to my mind nothing is quite so elegant as a ring full of 3-gaited Saddlebreds strutting like peacocks at a full trot.
