HEY, MOM! is the first of the freestanding mare and foal pieces I call my Equine Madonna’s. This is a case where I started out to sculpt one thing, an Arabian mare lying next to her foal (hence the angled armature that could be lowered), and overnight the piece turned herself into a standing Percheron mare. Sometimes the sculpting goes incredibly fast as both "Mom" and "Mom’s Boy" did. Then I couldn’t decide where to place "Mom’s Boy" in relation to her, and it occured to me to cast them both freestanding so the entire feeling of the piece could change based on where "Boy" stands in relation to "Mom". Only one client has had both mounted on a base, and I can discuss this option if you contact me.
